History of Al-Greya

The universe was full of unquantifiable emotions. Entities of love and apathy, joy and sorrow, happiness and hatred – they were there. Like siblings, their quarrels begat tempests of wind and rock, and of fire and ice. However, after a few million years boredom became their constant enemy. They needed something to mold and shape. The universe was theirs to play with. And so it was that from these emotional entities came the heavens and the earth. Together they created a sphere rich in vegetation, rushing rivers, and vast oceans. They named it the world of Al-Greya.

After a while, the positive entities desired a curiosity, something that could think for itself and use their creation for their own entertainment. Thus were born two intelligent forms, the Grey Peri, and the Grey Humans both modelled after themselves. Negative energies on the other hand sought only chaos. Great titanic monsters would do nicely to harass their cousin’s creations.

The great entities eventually made themselves known to their creations. The Grey Peri built temples and great cities of mystical energy to honor them. They learned how to harness that energy given to them by their new found gods with words and gestures. They grew in knowledge and wisdom of their world and all it had to offer. The Grey Humans however did not care for the peri gods. They saw a hidden force of harmony in all things living and not. They felt that Al-Greya alone was responsible for their life and blessings. They vowed to protect and guard its wellbeing.

Generations came and went. The two races lived with each other with an air of tolerance. They often would work together to protect themselves from the titantic monsters that invaded their cities and homes. Time was not good to the creators. The peri slowly forgot their beginnings and forgot about the entities. They themselves were masters enough and no longer needed to pay homage to the gods they once worshiped.

The entities soon discovered that they had become dependent on the life force energy they had created. As the peri turned their backs, their power began to fade. In an effort to regain their importance to their creation, avatars would appear to speak on their behalf. Great wonders and miracles were done in that time. But many were unhappy with these new voices.

To prove they no longer needed the entities, the Great Peri Council agreed upon and constructed a great magical barrier to keep these old gods from interfering in their lives. The new barrier reduced the entities power even further as they now were cut off completely from the entire planet whose regenerative spirit once nurtured them.

In a desperate attempt to reclaim their lifeline and control over the world of Al-Greya they combined all of the power they still had and enchanted a meteor to hurl at the barrier in an effort to destroy it. The enchantment was a success and the meteor was on its way.

Now the Grey Humans had also grown in knowledge and wisdom. They knew all about the world of Al-Greya and the elders could sense the imminent catastrophe coming to the natural environment they loved so dearly. The elders confronted the Grey Peri council to complain about their actions in the hopes they would make right their mistake. Argument erupted into war. The Grey Humans chose their bravest people who learned the ways of combat and became known as Grey Knights. Young peri people left their studies of magic to learn about combat and became known as Peri Blade Singers.

It was a very ugly war that encompassed the entire world. Tens of thousands were killed. All the while the meteor was still approaching. As the impact became imminent, a cease-fire was declared as they frantically searched for a way to stop the meteor. But their efforts were in vain for they had waited too long.

The enchanted meteor shattered the barrier on impact and slammed into the surface of Al-Greya. It is said that the impact started a chain of earthquakes, floods and volcanic activity. Most every city was destroyed killing millions. The remains of the barrier flew into the heavens to form a ring around the planet.

The entities reclaimed their power over the world. As punishment they cursed the offspring of those that survived. For the next five hundred years, a birth, which used to be a very joyous occasion, was a very foreboding one as the curse produced a wide variety of creatures and races. The Grey Humans and Grey Peri were no longer by themselves.

Two thousand years have passed and offshoot humans are most prominent now throughout the world. They joined together and established great empires and kingdoms. Only a handful of Grey Humans are believed to have survived the great cataclysm and as for the Grey Peri, will no one really knows just how many of them survived.
